The e-residence law passed by the Parliament is another step taken by Ukraine to create a strong IT brand in the world and to support the economy.
According to the news of Ukrinform, this was announced on Telegram by Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation.
“During a full-scale war, it is very important to attract additional resources to the budget and support the country’s economy. The draft e-residence law is another step towards Ukraine’s way of building a strong IT brand in the world and supporting the economy,” he said.
According to Fedorov, the e-residence status will allow foreigners to start a business in a few clicks, develop it remotely and pay taxes in Ukraine on favorable terms (5% of income, 15% of the amount over the limit).
“Our team is currently working on a web version and mobile application development using cloud digital signature technologies. This will allow entrepreneurs to quickly and easily open or open bank accounts via a browser or smartphone, without paperwork and complicated bureaucratic procedures.”
As reported, the parliament adopted in the second reading the draft law on the features of taxation of business activities of electronic residents (registration No. 5270).
The document will allow foreigners and stateless persons who have acquired electronic residence status and registered themselves as natural person-entrepreneurs to engage in business activities and pay taxes in Ukraine without leaving their country of residence (residence).
To obtain e-residence status, a foreigner must submit an application on the e-residence portal and undergo a check in accordance with the current legislation in the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In order to obtain the status, it is obligatory to identify and verify the identity of the person in the consular institution.
After that, the foreigner is issued a TIN, e-residence status and electronic signature. Status granting and access to administrative services are provided by an e-citizen using Diya.Signature via Diya portal.
According to the estimates of the Ministry of Digitization, the introduction of this tool will generate more than $ 1.5 million. Annual revenue to the state budget.
