Apple plans to mark the iPhone 5c as an obsolete product next month, according to a report MacRumors. In October 2020, Apple designated the iPhone 5c as a legacy product; this meant that the company and its service providers could only make certain repairs to the product if parts were available.
According to a notice sent to authorized service providers today, Apple will mark the iPhone 5c as an obsolete product on November 1 and stop all repairs and servicing. Apple also said in the note that it will mark the third-generation iPad mini with Wi-Fi and TD-LTE as obsolete on the same day.
The iPhone 5c was the iconic iPhone that was released alongside the iPhone 5s in September 2013. The iPhone 5c was the first model to be offered in an “unpretentious” plastic design in a range of bright and rich colors, including blue, green, pink, yellow and white. The iPhone 5c also marked Apple’s debut of a low-cost iPhone model for low-end customers, with prices starting at $99 for the 16GB model on a two-year contract in the United States.
