The aircraft was presented on 2 December. The company says the B-21 Raider “describes a new era in technology and strengthens the United States’ role in peacekeeping through deterrence.” It is intended to completely replace their predecessors, the B-52, B-1B and B-2, by 2050.

What is known about the new aircraft

• The B-21 can connect to different systems on the battlefield by networking and using different scenarios.
• Backed by a digital ecosystem throughout its lifecycle, the system can evolve rapidly with rapid technological upgrades that provide new opportunities to stay one step ahead of future threats.

The new strategic bomber has an increased flight range that will enable the US Air Force to leave foreign bases in the future. It will also be able to interact with land, sea, air and space forces thanks to the use of the latest technologies.

The aircraft is named after the Second World War, when 80 soldiers and 16 B-25 Mitchell bombers, led by Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle, embarked on a war-changing mission. It was named after the Doolittle raids in World War II.
