In 2019, IKEA allied with Sonos to create the new Symfonisk family. They combined the functions of a lamp with a speaker and the result was surprising and even attractive in terms of price/performance ratio.
Now this family is replenished with the new Symfonisk speaker lamp, which this time adopts the form of a floor lamp, not a table lamp anymore. This makes him taller, but what he does is of course grow in price. And a lot.
No news from Sonos
The new product doesn’t look particularly new, at least in its technological part. The official IKEA announcement makes no mention of possible changes to the speaker’s hardware, which was certainly notable and performed fantastically in our testing.
The loudspeaker therefore looks the same as it was used three years ago and the only thing that has changed here is the design and above all the support of the lamp with the bamboo grille as the main character.
So that we no longer have a table lamp, but a standing It has a bottom base. From it come three rods that support the weight of the speaker and the lamp located at the top.
The Sonos speaker doesn’t have an integrated voice assistant and we’ll have to use a separate product with Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri to be able to control it with our voice.
Still, other Sonos speaker options, such as various streaming services, pairing via speaker settings or TruePlay (on iOS).
The new Symfonisk floor lamp – at least according to the IKEA website in Austria – will go on sale in January 2023 for a price of 219 euros, but this base price will increase if we change the design of the lampshade and can be replaced with the previous model, as it is already.
