The smartphone market is split between iOS and Android. On the other hand, in addition to Apple’s iPhone models, dozens of different manufacturers have devices designed for every budget. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 will compete with the iPhone 14 series in terms of performance and user experience, and will be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.

Android smartphone manufacturers have long lagged behind Apple in terms of reliable software, powerful hardware, high efficiency and long battery life. Pixel 6 and Pixel 7, which have Google’s own Tensor processors, were expected to quickly dominate the market in this area. However, the performance and efficiency of these Samsung processors leave customers disappointed. Of course, this does not mean that Google Tensor processors have failed. Because they can’t compete with the A15, A16 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

The Galaxy S23 series, which will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, should offer many more improvements. We are also seeing significant improvements in productivity and efficiency. So much so that some claim it is better than Apple’s chips.

After the Snapdragon 888, Qualcomm moved to 8 Gen 1 and then 8 Gen 2 with a strong marketing strategy. Qualcomm seems to be offering good chips this time around. Although the new Vivo smartphone will be the first to use this chip, we already know that Samsung will use a unique, less common variant.

The Galaxy S23 series outperformed other Android devices using Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the initial single-core performance test, but lagged behind in multi-core performance. According to the latest results, it provides the best performance in both categories in the Android world.

Compared to its own Exynos 2200 processor used in the previous series, Samsung offers 25% more single-core and 45% more multi-core performance. But that’s not the shocking cost. Compared to the Exynos powered S22, the S23 series will be 60-85% more efficient.

With all these developments in mind, it’s safe to say that Apple’s latest iPhone 14 models will be the first Android devices to offer performance comparable to the A16 chip used in the Pro series and remain the most powerful processors available. However, it is clear that the gap has narrowed considerably.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

The latest sources regarding the top model of the Galaxy S23 series state that the main sensor of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will have a resolution of 200 MP. It will resemble the Galaxy S22 Ultra in terms of various camera sensors other than the main camera. However, there is no exact information.

Last month, there was a leak about the Galaxy S23 Ultra and S22 Ultra comparison. We can clearly see that the S23 Ultra is significantly different from the S22 Ultra in the 16x zoomed image after the main cameras of both devices. The image on the S23 Ultra is noticeably sharper. The advantage of the high megapixel sensor is that every detail can be seen, including the lines on the door.

In addition, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will have 50MP and 12MP photo modes in addition to 200MP. Then you will be able to take detailed images in 200 MP mode. Or take photos in 12 MP and 50 MP modes. It looks like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is vying for the title of Android phone with the best camera. Compared to the old model, the S22 Ultra seems to have a big difference. Of course, we have no idea what to expect until the phone arrives. The device will be available in February 2023.
