A source known under the alias Ice Universe has posted specific information about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 smartphone on its Weibo page. Ice Universe claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be around 13mm in size when folded. At the same time, the thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is about 16 mm. He added that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will get a new drop-shaped hinge, with the gap when folding only 0.2mm, meaning almost no gap. Otherwise, the dimensions of the smartphones of the two generations will be similar.

The Oppo Find N2 has a similar teardrop-shaped hinge, but at just over 16mm when closed. At the same time, the folding Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is only 11.2 mm thick when closed.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 5 this summer alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Tab S9 and Galaxy Watch 6. Last year, Samsung also launched its foldable devices in August.

As we have already reported, in 2024, that is, next year, the South Korean company will present six complex devices at once. In addition to the successors of the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold, new models of the Galaxy Z Flex, Z Flip Ultra, Z Fold Ultra and Z Tab tablet are expected.
