Motorola is reportedly preparing new flagship phones for the global market. Rumors about the Moto Edge 40 and Edge 40 Pro have been circulating for a long time. One of the two phones is expected to be the rebranding Moto X40, which launched in China earlier this year with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. While no official announcement has been made yet, a new report has shared all the features of the upcoming Edge series smartphones.

According to the report, Motorola Edge 40 Pro will be powered by the latest and greatest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. It has a 6.67-inch curved pOLED display with support for Full HD+, HDR10+, Dolby Vision and DCI-P3 color gamut. The panel is said to reach a peak brightness of 1,300 nits and support a refresh rate of 165Hz and a touch sampling rate of 360Hz.

It will reportedly have an aluminum frame with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the front and back. It will reportedly be available in Quartz Black and Angel Falls colors with an IP68 water and dust rating. Moto Edge 40 Pro can be powered by a 4600mAh battery with 125W wired, 15W wireless and 5W reverse charging.

For photography, it will get a 50-megapixel main rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and f/1.8 aperture, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle unit and a 12-megapixel portrait lens with 2x optical zoom. The front camera has a 60-megapixel selfie camera.

Moto Edge 40 features

The vanilla Moto Edge 40 is said to pack an unannounced MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC under the hood, which can be paired with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Equipped with a 4400mAh battery, the smartphone can support 68W fast charging and 15W wireless charging.

The Motorola smartphone is expected to feature a 6.55-inch Full HD+ pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ and 1200 nits peak brightness. On the back, it could have a dual camera setup led by a 50MP f/1.5 primary camera with OIS and a 13MP ultra-wide sensor with a 120-degree field of view. It could be a 32MP front camera.

It is said to be offered in vegan leather and acrylic PMMA materials. The first will weigh around 171 grams and have a thickness of 7.58 mm. The PMMA variant can have a thickness of 7.49 mm and a weight of about 167 grams. It will receive an IP68 rating and will be available in Lunar Blue, Nebula Green, Eclipse Black and Magenta colors.
