It was a few months ago when we talked about it. Agreement reached by two major Korean technology companies LG and Samsung supply second W-OLED panels to mount on their televisions first.
A system that will compete with the product from China, where manufacturers are getting stronger, and as a result of the agreement, Korean Samsung has now announced its first television. Equipped with W-OLED panel It’s been competitive so far.
Together against the common enemy
Samsung announced today first 83-inch W-OLED TV. It’s a new model integrated into the Korean brand’s S90C series and stands out above all for using a W-OLED panel from LG Display.
It should be noted that Samsung launched its first OLED television, the S95B, at the beginning of last year, and its successor, the S95C with a second-generation QD-OLED panel, debuted this year. Until now Samsung relies on OLED displays called QD-OLEDAn alternative to LG’s W-OLED panels.
In these panels; W-OLED type (White OLED), the difference is that the light emitted by each of the self-emitting cells of the panel is white. The main advantage of W-OLED panels over traditional RGB OLEDs is that they are not affected by premature blue subpixel degradation.
On the positive side, the production easier, cheaper and allows larger panels to be obtained by using RGB OLED. On the downside, it requires the placement of an RGB color filter on top of the organic diode matrix to reproduce the three primary colors, in return the ability of W-OLED panels to provide brightness is significantly reduced compared to RGB OLEDs. And that’s something Samsung wanted to fix with QD-OLEDs.
Samsung’s new TV, It has a diagonal of 83 inches. Beyond LG’s display technology, it’s a large panel for a TV with features already known from the rest of the S90C lineup with a QD-OLED panel.
This model is based on Neural Quantum processor, next generation consoles, Gaming Hub, HDR 10 and HDR10+ supportDolby Atmos compatibility and Tizen operating system.
Also, a new model ultra-thin design and 4 millimeter bezel It comes with a Samsung SolarCell remote that charges with artificial or natural light, as well as radio frequency waves, without the need for batteries.
Price and availability
Samsung’s new TV will be unveiled In the United States market this week With a starting price of $5,399.99, the other Korean brand’s competitor, the LG C3, has nearly followed suit.
