The successor to your most advanced TV arrives: A95L

Sony’s A95K has been one of the best TVs of 2022, and so there was great anticipation about the specs of its successor. We finally cleared the doubts and the manufacturer gave us a lot of information about it. And this will be one of the keys of the A95L The highest brightness of the QD-OLED panel and improvements to the XR processor.

OLED TVs in 2023 seem to be heading towards a new norm: offer more shine it also improves the elimination of panel reflections. We’ve seen this in LG’s new ‘META OLED’ panel, with new algorithms and the use of a microlens matrix to achieve greater brightness. But Samsung has also done its homework with its next-generation QD-OLED panels, as it promises to increase brightness without distorting color.

The latest version of the XR processor needs to add all the calibration that Sony offers thanks to software techniques and algorithms to the second generation QD-OLED panel designed by Samsung. And the company presents its technology in this new TV. XR OLED Contrast Pro and XR Triluminos Maxpromises a noticeable difference in brightness and an even wider color gamut.

The A95L’s panel also a heat diffusion layer After the QD-OLED matrix to solve the burn-in problem in OLEDs. In this way, the TV can achieve a higher brightness while cooler and software techniques protect the panel from this well-known symptom. One of these techniques is to determine which points of the screen are at the highest temperature with the thermal analysis of the panel offered by the Cognitive Processor XR and apply the necessary corrections.

The A95L also comes with all the gaming features including 120Hz, VRR, ALLM and a new joystick.

In addition to all these technologies, the processor also any technique to scale content to 4K through artificial intelligence. It uses XR Clear Image technologies, which adapts the image according to the source, and XR 4K Upscaling, which performs the scaling function.

As always with this television series, the A95L will also offer a variety of solutions to enjoy high dynamic range content, including Dolby Vision. In addition, players will also find various special features such as: 120 Hz frequency panel and serve us first and foremost for shooting games to add motion reduction, ‘Black equalizer’ to improve the darkest areas and provide greater visibility in games, or add a crosshair in the middle of the screen.

When it comes to sound, the TV also offers a range of features to match. And does the A95L come equipped with? 2.2 channel sound system With 360 degree spatial sound technology. However, it is worth noting that the A95L continues to offer Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology, which transfers the sound from the panel and turns the screen into a speaker at the same time. Smart TV also offers Dolby Atmos as a multi-channel audio solution.

Like all these years Sony continues to offer Google TV as its main operating system on the latest version of their television. Here we have access to all the apps of the Google Play Store, including the main streaming platforms like Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Prime Video and the company. It’s also compatible with Google Assistant for voice control, Alexa for sending content from iOS devices, and AirPlay.

Another of the features included as a novelty in this new television series is, all settings related to energy saving. In this way, Sony, which will present all ‘Eco’ settings in the same menu, will now make it much easier to find all these options.

Sailing on two seas, Sony also has OLED in its new series

With a design similar to that of its older brother, the A80L also offers a number of very complete features, but in this case, the manufacturer has left to offer its QD-OLED panel. A W-OLED panel made by LG Display. In this way, Sony will have crossed both waters to integrate OLED and QD-OLED technology to its users through Samsung and LG panels, respectively, as in 2022.

What is not yet clear is whether this A80L’s OLED panel is the new ‘META’ panel with microlens matrix technology from LG or a slightly more ‘traditional’ OLED that has settled for a third-party LG OLED evo generation. . Our colleague Juan Carlos from Xataka was able to test both models in action and continues to perform at a “very good level”, although he thinks the overall image quality is not as “impressive” as the A95L.

Here, Sony continues to offer the same Cognitive Processor XR with all current AI scaling technologies. Of course, it’s almost a statement that as an OLED panel, its panel won’t offer as overwhelming brightness presentation as next-gen QD-OLEDs.

As with other imaging technologies, He looks a lot like his TV brotherbecause, in addition to Dolby Vision, there is a joystick for playing with VRR, a frequency of 120 Hz and certain ALLM modes, as well as all settings at hand.

As with the A95L, Sony also incorporates Acoustic Surface Audio+ audio technology, where the panel is the speaker. However, Sony offers in this model 3.2 channel sound systemUnlike the A95L which stayed in 2.2.

This A80L also offers Google TV as the operating system in its latest version so the user has an endless number of apps to download and Google Assistant as voice assistant. However, it should be noted that the television is also compatible with Alexa and AirPlay to send content from iOS devices.

Price and availability

Sony’s A95L TV doesn’t have an approximate release date or price yet, but we do know it will hit stores in the coming years. 55, 65 and 77 inch models.

Same goes for the A80L, but this time 55, 65, 77 and 83 inch versions. We’ll have to wait for the next few weeks for Sony to provide detailed information on its availability in stores.
