Citations and links to YouTube videos in scientific articles It’s not difficult, but there are rules for this. AT ABNT standards, which standardize academic papers, also provide for the inclusion of citations and video links. See how to do it right.
How to quote YouTube videos
The traditional way of quoting the author throughout the text follows the logic of “(SORENOME, year of publication” with who spoke, and at the end of the excerpt, indicate the name of the channel and the year of publication in brackets.
Let’s look at an example to make it clearer.
Watch the video “15 YEARS OF THE IPHONE: What You Didn’t Know About the Apple Cell Phone.” In one passage, presenter Jackson Boeing says the following:
“Jobs did not understand how this could work in a company, but after a while, he changed his mind. So people started working on this project to combine macOS with a touchscreen” (MUNDO CONECTADO, 2022).
There is no secret. Throughout the text, basically what you need to do is mention the channel name and the year the video was published.always in parentheses, immediately after the mention. There is no need to enter the speaker’s name in capital letters.but the snippet should make it as clear as possible who is speaking.

How to link to a YouTube video
Here the process is more difficult. If you have cited a YouTube video throughout the text, you will have to include it in the bibliographic references at the end of the work. Here the reference is more complete and it is worth paying attention to the pattern. The rule is the following:
SURNAME, Name of the author of the video (or channel name). Video title. YouTube, publication date. Available at the link: video. Access Date: The date the video was accessed.
Considering the same video as the example above, the result would be:
CONNECTED WORLD. 15 years of the iPhone: what you didn’t know about the Apple mobile phone. YouTube, June 28, 2022. Available at: < https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL1RVAQWA7o>. Retrieved: July 04, 2022
Attention to some details: the video address must be enclosed in angle brackets (““). In the case of quoting the author, you can specify a specific name, but most often this is a link to the channel. In this case, the name is written in capital letters and does not follow the rule “last name, first name”, that is, it is MUNDO CONECTADO, not “CONECTADO, Mundo”.
