These flares cause radio interference that ranges from strong (R5) to extreme (R5) on the Earth’s daytime surface. If a solar flare erupts and is near the center of the Earth-facing solar disk, it can cause a strong and prolonged storm of solar radiation and a strong (G4) and extreme (G5) geomagnetic storm on Earth.
