A Google started releasing a new version of Android default keyboard for more devices, gboard. In the update, it gets a new visual feature: the ability to “split” the keys in halfdisplaying half of them on each side of the screen.
In this format, the layout of the keys remains the same as in the original format. qwerty keyboards, leaving only one space between the two subgroups. This makes it easier to type when the user holds a specific device with both hands at the same time, such as a foldable smartphone or tablet – it is for these two segments of electronics that the update is intended.
Last year, users of some foldable smartphones were already able to use a separate keyboard. Now these are tablets with the same capacity. The moment of release is not accidental: last Wednesday (10) the company announced at the opening of the conference Google I/O 2023 both the new split-screen mobile phone (Pixel Fold) and its official return to the tablet segment (Pixel Tablet).

To return to the traditional scheme, simply return to the previous option.
This feature should appear in the stable app in the near future, still without a set date, but possibly closer to the launch date of the new Pixel devices. The tablet went on sale at the end of June this yearwhile the foldable smartphone arrives at some yet unspecified time in second half of 2023.
