The Economist calls Starlink “the new hot product in Ukraine”. During the month, the number of Ukrainian downloads of Starlink, which is used to connect computers and phones to license plates and thus satellite Internet signals, rose from zero to 215,000, which is 58 percent of the world total.

The technology is also used by the military. However, there are some problems with this. The fact is that satellite Internet is most in demand in the war zone – in the eastern and southern regions, where the main directions of Russia’s offensive are concentrated. However, since orbital satellites are further away from ground stations, this is where the signal from the satellites is weakest. On April 21, SpaceX launched 53 more satellites into orbit that should improve the situation.
