GIGABYTE statement regarding SOC voltage less than 1.3V on AMD AM5 motherboards

GIGABYTE approached the clarify doubts which appeared as a result of information that was published in various media, where they assumed that the SOC voltage on their AMD AM5 motherboards was higher than 1.3 volts, and that this was even more apparent when enabled in the BIOS and at the configuration level and the EXPO profile to use overclocking about RAM.

On this topic, When it comes to SOC voltage measurement, the point and method of measurement are critical. It must be real and reliable, because the SOC voltage alone could cause small deviations.

It should be taken into account that measuring the internal SOC voltage of the processor via the SVI3 interface is the most important indicator for motherboards and that it will be lower than the PWM output voltage due to various physical factors that have not been accounted for.

Users can use HwiNFO software for accurate control of the internal SOC voltage of the processor using the SVI3 interface, which is labeled as “VDDCR_SOC CPU Voltage (SVI3 TFN)” by the application. The indicated value is informed by the internal sensor of the processor and is capable display the actual voltage.

GIGABYTE uses HwiNFO to monitor SOC voltage on their AM5 motherboards and check if it is below 1.3 volts which is the readings confirmed by AMD. The entire line of GIGABYTE AM5 motherboards, which is aimed at supporting the red giant’s Ryzen 7000 processors, complies with the 1.3 volt SOC guideline set by AMD when EXPO is enabled.

GIGABYTE constantly works closely with AMD to follow their guidelines and fully comply with their official specifications and requirements, all in order to deliver high quality and fully reliable products. The company released a video via the AORUS YouTube channel showing off how to correctly measure SOC voltage on AM5 board, and we’ll leave it just below.
