StableStudio is Stability AI’s latest project to convert text to images using AI. It’s basically the open source version of DreamStudio, a similar application.

The British company Stability AI has been mainly open source since its inception. With the launch of StableStudio – a kind of open-source version of his DreamStudio application – this commitment is further strengthened.

DreamStudio is Stability AI’s premium interface for converting text to images. The application runs on the stable diffusion model. Artificial intelligence allows users to generate images from text without having to write any code themselves. The program got an upgrade last month with the beta model Stable Diffusion XL.

Open source as motto

This launch means that Stability AI stays true to its own credo of constantly evolving open-source development in the world of artificial intelligence. For example, just last month, Stable Diffusion released a suite of open-source models for major languages for generating text and code from user input, collectively known as StableLM.

Subsequently, the company also plans to integrate StableVicuna, the chat interface for StableLM, into StableStudio.

With StableStudio, users have full control over the Stable Diffusion interface. This allows them to create their own plugins and use them for Stability AI’s underlying AI models. Community and developer feedback helps shape what StableStudio will or can be in the future. Therefore, the company plans to move its active development to its public GitHub. As an incentive, there will even be bonuses for new features and improvements.

Despite StableStudio’s open-source model, Stability AI emphasized that DreamStudio will continue to run on its own servers.
