The Russians are looking for new ways to gain unauthorized access to the information systems of Ukrainian organizations and citizens, in particular, they use pirated programs.

As reported by Ukrinform, the State Special Communications and Information Protection Service reported this.

“Russian hackers are constantly looking for new ways to gain unauthorized access to the information systems of Ukrainian citizens and organizations. Experts of the state computer emergency response team CERT-UA warn: the use of unlicensed (pirated) software is becoming more and more dangerous. The enemy is such It even spreads the software through Ukrainian torrents.”

The State Security Service emphasized that even a “hacked” program installed on one of the organization’s computers (whether it’s a program from an office suite, a solitaire “hijab” or something else) could open the door to Russian hackers and private individuals. The agency predicts that the use of such a cyberattack vector will only increase in the future. More and more new users will appear in Ukrainian torrent trackers who will distribute dangerous pirated software. At the same time, the motivation of hackers can be different: from cyber espionage and destructive actions to theft of bank card data, and then funds; or infection with ransomware viruses followed by ransom demands.

As reported, in April the Council of Ministers approved the Procedure for responding to cyber incidents and cyber attacks.
