With Generative Fill, Adobe is introducing a new AI image generation tool in Photoshop Beta.

Starting today, Adobe’s Photoshop Beta features a new image generator: Generative Fill, based on the Firefly AI model.

What is it

Users can now easily adjust photos and images through a text prompt. Thanks to Adobe Firefly, Generative Fill works like any other text-to-image generator.

You can easily add photorealistic or totally surrealistic content to your images or photos, enlarge the corners of the image without damaging it, or remove content.

applications

According to CEO Pam Clark, Generative Fill saves you a great deal of time by automatically adjusting for changes in your image’s perspective, lighting, and style. The new tool is implemented in all aspects of Photoshop and applies a “generative layer” when used; That means users can easily remove their new creations or incorporate them into a theme.

Generative Fill was also developed for commercial use. Added content is always available in high resolution and is not based on copyrighted content. Companies or organizations can therefore use the tool without hesitation.

Adobe points out that it is still in beta and commercial users should test Generative Fill themselves before fully integrating it into their work processes.

risk factor

With the recent criticism of AI and the associated warnings, this is now also evident with this innovation. The possibility of photorealistic content makes the danger of deepfakes a risk.

Because of this, Adobe is working to block the use of images featuring political figures and the addition of black smoke to key buildings like the White House. The AI guidelines also prohibit users from producing images that contain violent violence, naked people, fraudulent or offensive content.

To use Generative Fill, users must download the Photoshop Beta app. Please note that this is only possible if you subscribe to Photoshop or Adobe Creative Cloud.
