After a lot of rumors about Apple’s VR/Mixed Reality headset, the company should be close to officially unveiling the product during WWDC 2023 starting June 5th. A report by TrendForce, a firm specializing in technology segment analysis, notes that Apple is only supposed to release 100,000 units of the headset during 2023.. Estimated production at the factories is 300,000 units, with a low number due to the premium cost of the product, which could hit the market for around $3,000.

WWDC 2023: what to expect from Apple’s…

The opening event should bring the highly anticipated mixed reality headset and new versions of operating systems…

Since last year, Reality Pro has been rumored to launch in 2023 and the device should bring a premium configuration. Only the second generation of the headset should come out at a more affordable price. The mixed reality glasses are rumored to have a “tri-screen configuration” with two micro OLED 4K screens and another AMOLED. The TrendForce report also predicts a drop in sales of VR helmets worldwide by 2023with projected market growth for 2025. The fall makes sense, as a global economic environment with high inflation and mass layoffs in the technology sector should make it difficult to access the VR segment.

Other analysts believe in sales growth

If TrendForce analysis shows that there are only 100,000 units of the headset in circulation, other industry analysts are predicting much higher numbers. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman forecasts a production of 900,000 units. in circulation, and the analyst Ming Chi Kuo it was planned to sell about 500,000 units.

If we stop to watch, all analyzes show very different numbers. This shows that the market does not know exactly what to expect from the Apple headset, which is why the forecasts are so different. In the meantime, we can only say that the official product announcement should really take place during WWDC 2023 and most recently registered 5 titles for the mixed reality headset operating system. Although xrOS should be the official name of the OS, Apple took the opportunity to register the realOS, realOS, and xrProOS names, ensuring that other companies don’t use the nomenclature.
