A flood of iOS 17 rumors

it’s just missing a few weeks before Apple tells us about iOS 17 for the first time, on a future version of the iPhone operating system, which we hope will have its first developer beta released very soon after. The official presentation will take place during WWDC 2023, which starts next Monday, June 5, and at which we expect some pretty interesting announcements from Cupertino. If you’re curious about them, you can read the ones we think will make the headlines here.

A few months ago, most rumors suggested that iOS 17 would be a minor revision of the operating system, with few and not very noteworthy innovations. According to these voices, Apple considered using this version to give a good revision of the “innards” of the operating system to optimize it and prepare it for more substantial changes in later versions. However, more than two months ago, this trend changed substantially, mainly as a result of Mark Gurman’s statement that Apple has decided to bring important changes and news with this new version of iOS.

Since then, the most relevant news in this regard is undoubtedly that iOS 17 could allow sideloading, that is, the installation of applications that do not come from the App Store, which is so far only possible through the TestFlight platform (also from Apple, of course) that developers use to provide beta versions of their applications to users who are part of their testing programs. This without any doubt in this regard, it responds to the regulation of the European Unionwhich we can confirm knowing that this feature could only come to the common European area and that Apple is testing a new system to ensure this geographical restriction.

A flood of iOS 17 rumors

If we talked about Mark Gurman before, the popular analyst is back to share information about the future version of iOS in Bloomberg and according to this report Apple reserves some very interesting news for iOS 17along with other changes and revisions that may not seem so important at first glance, but which can have a significant impact (in a positive way, that is) on ordinary users of the applications and features that will be revised.

The most notable is undoubtedly that iOS 17 changes the iPhone lock screen interface to a connected home screen. After the twists in the HomeKit review, it seems that Apple wants to give a boost to its functions in this area, which we already heard about at the beginning of the year, with the company’s hypothetical plans to create a new iPad. it would be a smart screen rather than a tablet. Until its arrival, or as an alternative, the iPhone screen with iOS 17 could take over this role.

Another development, and this has been around for some time, is that iOS 17 will feature a diary app, which will also be combined with the rumored emotional state tracking feature about the user, information that could be used together with the rest of the data collected by Salud to create a more complete profile. At this point, though, we’ll have to wait to see her terms in terms of privacy, because we’re talking about the kind of information that, unfortunately, is still quite stigmatizing today.

Gurman also points out the rest iOS 17 will include updates to Wallet, Find My, SharePlay and AirPlay, four functions that, as I have already indicated, are part of the daily life of many people (with the sole exception of Find My, the use of which is always occasional). He didn’t reveal more specific details, so we’ll still have to wait a little less than two weeks to find out what they consist of… if they’re confirmed, of course. And also of course which devices can be updated.
