Food Inspector Rajesh Vishwas of Chhattisgarh, India, was suspended for dumping over two million liters of water from the Herkatty dam to recover his mobile phone that fell while taking a selfie.

The phone the Indian official tried to recover was a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with worth over $1200.

Local media reports that the official hired divers for them to dive into place and return the phone, but that was impossible.

Rajesh Vishwas’ mobile phone statement kept confidential information for the government and therefore had to restore it.

Vishwas hired a diesel pump to pump water out of the dam, empty it and restore his equipment, he explained to local media.

In three days they drained the water and found a cell phone, but during the check it was confirmed that was unusable and too damaged.

Regarding the action, the official assured that he had permission to speak from a government employee of the Department of Water Resources, who apparently gave him the go-ahead as it would help irrigate the various peasant crops in the area.

He also substantiated that the water came from the overflow part of the structure, therefore it wasn’t water they could use People.

The situation outraged the public and local authorities, so an investigation was launched against Vishvas, who was removed from his post until the end of the investigation.
