NASA’s UFO task force meets on May 31

This week NASA will hold a historic public meeting about UFOs, and you can watch it all live online. The agency will hold a meeting in June 2022 with its “independent working group”, which it formed about a year ago, to examine data on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), a new term that covers objects or events in the sky underwater or under the sea. immediately identifiable area.

At this meeting, the group will publicly discuss the results of the UAP investigation for the first time. The four-hour meeting will be available to watch online, thanks to a free live stream on NASA TV. It will begin at 10:30 ET (2:30 pm GMT) on Wednesday, May 31.

Following the event, NASA will host an audio-only media teleconference following the meeting, featuring Dan Evans of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate, David Spergel, president and chairman of NASA’s UAP Independent Research Group, and other members of the agency’s UAP team. According to the agency’s 2022 statement, NASA has assembled a team to examine all available data that could shed light on the UAP mystery and how it could help “advance the scientific understanding of UAPs.”

The 16-person research team includes former NASA astronaut Scott Kelly, as well as a wide variety of experts from academia, aeronautics and the aerospace industry, and even a science reporter. The team only reviews unclassified data, according to the list of frequently asked questions released by the agency.

Thomas Zurbuchen, former deputy director of science at NASA headquarters in Washington, said that shortly after the group was announced, the group was formed in part to “advance scientific understanding of the UAP” and “tack a relatively weak area and make it much more containing a lot of data and therefore worthy of scientific research and analysis.”

The NASA research team is just one of several US government-funded groups to study UAPs. In 2022, the US Department of Defense set up an office to study unidentified objects in space, air, and water, and even objects supposedly traveling between them.

Despite examining hundreds of reported UAP events, the group’s director told the Senate Armed Services Committee in April that the group had “to date found no credible evidence of extraterrestrial activity, extraterrestrial technology, or objects that defy known laws of physics.”
