Apple Music Classical, the version of Apple Music dedicated exclusively to classical music (in the broadest sense of the word) debuted at the end of Marchthereby fulfilling the commitment made by Apple when it acquired Primephonic in the summer of 2021. It is true that the app arrived a little later than originally planned, as the stated plans indicated that it would launch sometime in 2022, but as the saying goes it’s never too late when luck is good.

Of course, if you’re wondering if that luck was good or not, I can assure you that it was. I’m one of those users who has set the App Store to automatically download Apple Music Classical when it’s available on March 28th, partly so I can test it for the service review you’ll find here, but also out of genuine personal interest, because even though I consider myself completely illiterate on this topic, I enjoy listening to classical music and trying to learn about it, as I think has been proven in both the above analysis and the Understand Classical Music review. And it was clear to me from the first moment Apple hit the target.

In the aforementioned analysis, in which I expressed complete satisfaction with the new application, I regretted it that it would launch exclusively for iOS, without Apple revealing plans to port it to other platforms such as Android, iTunes for Windows, or the Apple Music web interface. At the time, I encouraged anyone interested in said expansion to keep their fingers crossed for me in hopes that said exclusivity was temporary.

Well, luckily, it looks like the folks at Cupertino didn’t want to deprive Google OS users of this excellent service. So, as you can check on Google Play, The Apple Music Classical app is now available for Android. Apple has not publicly announced this, and what’s more, if we look for a link to Apple Music Classical in the Apple Music web interface, the links continue to point us exclusively to the app in the iOS App Store.

Something that is striking, at least in the first instance, is that Android will receive this app before iPadOS has its own version for Apple tablets. However, we understand that this falls within Apple’s commitment to Primephonic users on Android, as the now-defunct service’s app has been removed from Google Play, meaning those users could only access Apple’s classic catalog through the Apple Music app, which provides a far inferior experience than that offered by Apple Music Classical.
