Google is officially ending updates to the 1st generation Chromecast released in 2013.

Google said this week that users who still have a first generation Chromecast will see the device. stop receiving support from the company. The end of updates for the device came ten years after the official launch, in 2013, when it reinvented the way to transfer images from mobile phones to TVs.

The latest firmware version for the 2013 Chromecast was 1.36.159268 released in November 2022 with “bug fixes and improvements”. It was the first update to the device in over three years. However, Google warns that users “may experience slower performance”..
