Network giant Cisco Systems Inc. announces the acquisition of startup Armorblox Inc. specializes in cybersecurity, particularly data and email.
In order to strengthen its cyber security with generative AI, the network specialist Cisco takes over the young company Armorblox. The startup specializes in cyber security, particularly in the area of data protection and email security.
implementation
With this acquisition, Cisco leverages Armorblox’s capabilities in generative artificial intelligence and large – natural – language models. In a blog post about the acquisition, Cisco CEO Raj Chopra hailed them as pioneers in using these technologies for risk management.
The aim is to use these acquired skills to protect email and other online communications, its cloud and various office applications. According to Chopra, Armorblox’s technology expertise can help assess potential attacks, accelerate threat detection and generally enforce good security policies more efficiently.
Security has long been on Cisco’s agenda, with the company launching its own XDR system in April this year.
Recently, Cisco has also been exploring the use of AI in other areas. The company recently boosted its Webex video platform with a dose of artificial intelligence.
The technology
Armorblox uses AI and its language models to analyze thousands of signals, including user behavior and identity, and the content and context of digital communications. The main goal is to protect a company’s employees’ emails from things like phishing or similar cyber attacks. In addition, the company also operates data protection.
The financial side of the acquisition has not yet been announced, but Cisco expects the transaction to close in the fourth quarter, i.e. in July.
