This was reported by the observatory, reported Ukrinform.

JO206 itself is located 700 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Aquarius, and this view of the galaxy is the sixth and final in a series of observations of “jellyfish galaxies.”

It is noted that the “tentacles” of jellyfish-like galaxies give astronomers a unique opportunity to study star formation in extreme conditions, away from the influence of the galaxy’s main disk.

Surprisingly, Hubble found that there was no striking difference between the star formation in the disks of jellyfish galaxies and the star formation in their tentacles;

Jellyfish galaxies are so named because of their resemblance to cnidarian marine animals, which have an umbrella-shaped hood and a gelatinous body made up of tentacles.

As reported by Ukrinform, the NASA/ESA Hubble space telescope photographed the jellyfish-like galaxy JW39 in the constellation of Coma Veronica, thanks to its Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) camera.
