Apple launches 15-inch MacBook Air

The Apple MacBook Air is getting a bigger brother with a 15.3-inch variant that’s said to have up to 18 hours of battery life and will be available next week.

After last year’s renewal of the MacBook Air with MagSafe and an Apple M2 chip, the Air models get a new variant with a larger 15.3-inch screen. Under the name 15-inch MacBook Air, there is again an Apple M2 chip with a larger battery on board, which is supposed to provide up to 18 hours of autonomy.

As with last year’s update, there is again a webcam with 1080p image quality surrounded by 3 microphones. Thanks to the larger housing, there are not four but six speakers in the 15-inch MacBook Air, compatible with Dolby Atmos for spatial sound.

The 15.3-inch screen has a peak brightness of 500 nits. The Apple M2 chip has an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU on board and is passively cooled. Touch ID is back with a fingerprint sensor below the power button.

Apple is proud of the laptop’s size, stating that the device is consistently just 11.5 millimeters thick and weighs around 1.35 kilograms. To achieve this slim size, there are only four ports: 2x USB-C (Thunderbolt 4), 1x MagSafe and 1x headphone jack.

price and availability

The laptop is configurable with options up to 24GB of RAM and up to 2GB of storage and is available in three colors: Dark Blue, Gold, Light Gray and Dark Gray.

You can order the laptop from today and delivery will start on June 13th. Pricing starts at $1,299 for the base model.

Euro prices will be announced later in the evening. We will update this article once the details are known.

This article will be updated regularly as new information is released from Apple WWDC 2023.
