At the recent WWDC 2023 event, Apple took the stage to introduce its latest product, the Mac Studio. This impressive machine features all-new M2 Max and M2 Ultra SoCs, representing a significant upgrade from the previous M1 Ultra model. Apple claims that the Mac Studio delivers breakthrough performance, surpassing even the most powerful 27-inch Intel-based iMac.
Apple Mac Studio (2023) Specifications and Features
Mac Studio with M2 Max features a powerful 12-core processor, up to 38-core GPU, and an impressive 96GB of combined memory with 400GB/s bandwidth. Apple claims that this configuration makes the M2 Max 50% faster than its predecessor and 4 times faster than the most powerful Intel-based iMac.
For those looking for even more power, Mac Studio with M2 Ultra takes productivity to the next level. It has an excellent 24-core CPU, 76-core GPU, and up to 192GB of memory with a combined bandwidth of 800GB/s. Apple claims that the M2 Ultra provides twice the performance and capabilities of the M2 Max, and is up to 3x faster with the M1 Ultra than the previous generation Mac Studio.
Apple has also expanded Mac Studio’s imaging capabilities. It now supports High-Bandwidth HDMI, delivering stunning 8K resolution and a smooth 240Hz frame rate. Additionally, with the M2 Ultra, Mac Studio simultaneously processes up to six Pro Display XDRs, opening up possibilities for a unique visual experience. In terms of connectivity, Mac Studio now supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
When it comes to ports, Mac Studio impresses with its extensive selection. There are four Thunderbolt 4 ports on the back, a 10Gb Ethernet port, an enhanced HDMI port and two USB-A ports. Additionally, there are two USB-C ports and an SD card slot on the front, providing easy access for importing photos and videos.
Price and availability
The recently released Mac Studio is available at a base price of $1,999. However, for those looking for the enhanced performance of the M2 Ultra powerful version, the cost can be significantly higher. Pre-orders for Mac Studio are now open, and customers can expect the product to be on store shelves starting June 13.
