Just a week ago, we repeated a few words from Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, who at the company’s financial conference confirmed the good pace of its engineers and briefly confirmed the arrival of the first Intel Arc desktop graphics cards (which can be clearly translated at the moment) of the second quarter of this year. With that calendar, we would be less than two months away from the long-awaited debut, even if the deadline was postponed to June 30.

Announced during the summer of 2021, when the graphics card market was still experiencing a huge shortage and a huge bubbleThe Intel Arc graphics adapters, which took over from the finally unpublished Intel Xe DG2 and Intel Xe HPG, have raised even higher expectations than their previous projects, both because of what Intel promised us and because of the effect that it could have a landing. a giant like Intel, a market that was as battered at the time as the graphics card market.

The company has announced that the first Intel Arc GPUs will hit the market in the first quarter of this year, and indeed it has happened … but to a very limited extent and the countdown is coming to an end. Today, Intel Arc GPU laptops can only be found in select markets and on a small selection of devices. And it’s been rumored for some time that the problem isn’t with the hardware, but with the software, drivers, and other elements responsible for the graphics to work properly.

Is there a new Intel Arc delay?

And now, as we can read in Wccftech, the same problem could delay the first Intel Arc desktop graphics cards until the second half or even the end of the summer, which failed to meet the increasingly tense forecast of the debut by the end of June at the latest. There is quite a bit of confusion, there is a lack of official information to explain the situation, but today there are stakeholders who claim that they do not know when the Intel Arc graphics cards will actually come out.

Therefore, if these messages are confirmed, we may have to wait a few more months for the first Intel Arc graphics to arrive and even more so its general availability in all markets. If Intel is forced to market the first units without having full confidence in their operation, we can only see a few units that are sold and in very specific markets, such as perhaps Asia.

Delays on schedule are always bad news. However, on the other hand it is undeniable that this is the most responsible position. The Intel Arc is a strategically important design for Intel at a time when technology has gone on gas again after several difficult years. Arriving on time is important, but it is much more important to arrive well, and if it is necessary to sacrifice the former for the benefit of the latter, I hold the philosophy that delay is more acceptable than a false arrival.
