Apple Vision Pro It is a self-contained hardware device with its own processors that does not need to be connected to a Mac or iPhone, but can interact with other Apple devices. For example, with a Mac, the Vision Pro can serve as a Mac display.
Apple says it has a Mac Virtual Display feature that works wirelessly on Macs. You can bring your Mac’s screen to Vision Pro and “place it anywhere in space.” You can view each Mac app separately, arranging it to suit you.
According to Apple, the Vision Pro is designed to work as a “dedicated portable 4K display” when used with a Mac. Connecting is as easy as looking at a compatible Mac while wearing Apple Vision headphones.
Mac accessories, including the Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad, can be connected to the Vision Pro for input. Connecting Bluetooth accessories allows you to continue using your typical Mac workflow with the screen-changing Vision Pro.
The Vision Pro is scheduled to launch in early 2024, so we won’t know more about how it performs as a true Mac display replacement until then. The price of the headset starts at $3499.
