The expansion of Orange’s 5G network is picking up speed. It wants to reach 40 percent of the Belgian population by the end of 2023, and 90 percent by the end of 2025.

In mobile, the expanded 5G spectrum will reach 40 percent of the population by the end of 2023 and 90 percent by the end of 2025. The launch of 5G Core SA (Stand Alone) will enable customized B2B services by the end of 2023.

Thanks to the agreement to share the Radio Access Network (RAN) with Proximus, Orange Belgium will also offer the largest mobile coverage and, together with Proximus, the largest number of radio sites in Belgium.

1 Gbps and 10 Gbps

In addition to the promises it makes about its 5G network, Orange has big ambitions when it comes to fixed-line internet. Now that Voo is part of Orange, the company aims to offer 1 Gbit/s internet speed plans to 95 percent of Belgians in Brussels and Wallonia by mid-2024. To achieve this top speed, Voo customers can expect a new modem that is DOCSIS 3.1 compliant.

Thanks to a cooperation with Telenet, Orange can use the full capacity of Telenet’s gigabit network in Brussels and Flanders.

Orange is also looking to 2040 and aims to roll out 10 Gbps. You want to achieve this via HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) using the latest DOCSIS technology, but also with your own network and that of partners via fiber optics.
