Authorities of nearby cities mayon volcanoeast of the Philippine island of Luzon, will continue this Saturday from evacuation of more than 10 thousand people who have been leaving their homes since Friday due to the risk of an eruption, with a level three warning out of a maximum of five.

About 10,000 of the 20,000 people living within a radius of less than six kilometers from the volcano considered dangerous have been evacuated, and many refuse to leave their homes for fear that personal effects or their livestock will be stolen.

Philippine Institute of Volcanology (Phivolcs) maintain vigilance three (out of a maximum level of five) and indicates in his latest report that on Friday there was a volcanic earthquake, 59 rockfalls and the volcano emitted 417 tons of sulfur dioxide.

Frequent collapses of stones at very high temperatures made it possible in recent nights to see red bursts of lava at some points on the volcano, although Fievolks clarified that these are not lava flows.

The risk of a major eruption may last for several days or weeks due to the presence of magma in the crater.
