On Monday, June 12, Riyadh Air from Saudi Arabia made its maiden flight over the Kingdom’s capital, flying over Riyadh’s famous tourist attractions.
The airline pays homage to Saudi Arabia with the lavender color that colors the deserts and highlands of the Kingdom in spring. Also on the fuselage is the name Riyadh Air and Arabic elm. The aircraft will soon fly to Paris to attend the 54th Paris Air Show, which begins Monday, June 19, 2023.
Riyadh Air was announced by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in March. The airline is expected to add $20 billion to oil GDP growth, create more than 200,000 direct and indirect jobs, and unlock the potential of promising industries to support economic diversification.
The company is owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) and is led by CEO Tony Douglas, formerly the managing director of Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi.
The airline said it will begin service in 2025 and is expected to connect more than 60% of worldwide destinations within eight hours, given the kingdom’s location connecting Asia, Africa and Europe. Flight
