The latest beta version of WhatsApp allows you to switch between multiple accounts on the same device. The feature will initially be rolled out for business accounts.

WhatsApp is innovative through and through. Only recently has the messaging app finally made it possible to use the account on several smartphones at the same time (tip: read our setup instructions). Now WhatsApp also seems to be going the opposite way and allowing multiple accounts on the same device. As so often, WABetainfo noticed this in the latest beta.

All your accounts on one device

The feature seems to be aimed primarily at business users who want to add their company account to their everyday smartphone and no longer need two different devices. The function will therefore initially be rolled out in the business version of the messaging app, initially also exclusively on Android. According to WABetainfo, the function will also be available for private users at some point, but it is unclear when that will be the case.

You can add an account and switch between accounts through your account settings. You choose which account you want to activate from the menu. It is still unclear whether you have to set a primary account for the inactive account and also receive notifications about messages. The feature is still under development.

Allowing multiple accounts is just one of the many new features WhatsApp is gradually introducing. Message editing features are now being rolled out to the Windows desktop app as well. With the introduction of channels, WhatsApp gets a touch of Facebook. WABetainfo also noticed the ability to send video messages in the latest beta.
