The Galaxy Watch 6 will be another of the devices that Samsung will present at its Unpacked event next month, where we will also see the new generation of Fold and Flip mobile phones and the Galaxy Tab S9 tablet. Although not official, the prices leaked from the French outlet say that the company will increase the price range of its watches.
The summer Unpacked is usually the event that Samsung chooses to refresh its smartwatch, which is certainly the second best seller on the market after the Apple Watch. All indications are that this year will be no different and we will have a new version or versions as there will be at least two that the company distributes.
Samsung will launch its new smartwatch in two models. Basic version with 40 and 44 mm size options and “Classic” version with 43 and 47 mm sizes. A big difference in design will come from rotating bezel from the second component that was very popular in previous versions where it was used and that returns for this model.
Both will have a sapphire crystal for screen protection and will meet IP68 and MIL-STD-810H certifications with water resistance up to 5 ATM. Since the bezels have been shrunk, it’s likely that Samsung will slightly increase the screen sizes used in the Watch 5, 1.2 and 1.4 inches with an AMOLED panel.
Its engine is also expected to be revamped, with the SoC being developed in-house Exynos W930. Samsung could increase the memory and storage over the current 1.5GB and 16GB, though these are not as important components as other devices.
A jump to Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 would be expected, in addition to offering the option in all versions to include support for LTE-4G mobile broadband networks. Sensors that are usually included in high-end watches are safe: heart rate, heart electrical signal and electrical bioimpedance, temperature, accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, magnetic sensor and light sensor.
French site dealabs claims to have launch pricing in Europe. As usual with these leaks, they were obtained from retailers and therefore does not have to answer to the official. It must be said that they are higher than the Watch 5.
