As noted, Ghosn filed the case at the Supreme Court in Lebanon, where he lived after fleeing Japan in late 2019 to avoid prosecution.
“The serious accusations against me will remain in people’s memory for years,” Ghosn said of the trial. He added that “he will suffer allegations for the rest of his life because even if they are based only on suspicion, they will have lasting consequences.”

Ghosn denies the charges against him and claims he was the victim of a conspiracy by Nissan senior executives who wanted to prevent the company’s merger with Renault.
