Musk said this during the Financial Times conference in Washington on Tuesday, Ukrinform reports.

“I really think the decision to block Donald Trump’s access was wrong and I think it was a mistake,” he said.

He stressed that the company “will lift this permanent ban” as it should absolutely not use such tools.

Musk explained that the restrictions on a social network did not stop, but only strengthened Trump’s voice among supporters of the right-wing movement.

Twitter co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey later commented on Mask’s words, saying he “accepted” the view that permanent bans are not appropriate for Twitter users.

“There are exceptions … but in general permanent bans are our fault and they don’t work,” he said.

As Ukrinform reported, in January last year the social network Twitter stated that it permanently blocked Donald Trump’s account “due to the risks of further incitement to violence”. Then, after Trump’s numerous calls for non-recognition of the election results, as well as the tragic events of the Capitol being raided by his supporters, the company admitted that the then-president’s actions violated the rules of the social platform.
