Cloud Windows isn’t just for companies: Microsoft is preparing a release for casual users

Cloud Windows is the same operating system, but accessed remotely via desktop streaming. It is stored on Microsoft servers along with all your data and uses its full capacity to run flawlessly. From the user’s point of view, you only need a computer or other device (for example, you can use free Linux), a monitor or a built-in display, and the Internet on any operating system. You connect to your Windows account just as you would connect to someone else’s computer through third-party remote access programs. This is very useful for companies that work remotely, as administrators can easily grant, manage and restore access to the employee’s work computer.

Cloud for users

The company’s intention to move Windows to the cloud for ordinary users was revealed in a presentation held a year ago in June 2022. The company had to disclose this during the FTC’s ongoing lawsuit against Microsoft. In general, the process itself means the acquisition of the Activision Blizzard studio, but it includes not only the company’s overall gaming strategy, but also how it relates to other parts of its business.

Therefore, “increasingly moving Windows 11 to the cloud” is described by the customer in Microsoft’s consumer “Modern Living” space as a long-term opportunity, including using the “power of the cloud” to “provide advanced AI-powered services” .

It’s unclear when you can expect cloud-based Windows for users. As you know, Microsoft is currently working on the next version of the operating system that will be generously equipped with artificial intelligence technologies and should offer an updated interface if the initial rumors are to be believed. In this way, the cloud version can both exist in parallel and be released after Windows 12 as its logical evolution.
