There are various TEFs in Europe where everything in the field of AI can be extensively tested before the systems or products become public.
The project started on January 1st and is open to technology companies from all over Europe. You can use the facilities both digitally and on-site to conduct tests with AI-related products and systems. This can involve hardware, new software or even robotics.
The focus of the testing and experimentation facilities is on four main topics:
The budget for this is calculated at 240 million euros, sixty per TEF project. The funds are distributed across the EU via the Digital Europe program and the various member states.
With the TEFs, Europe also has an additional means of implementing the famous AI law. This can be achieved by supporting sandboxes around local regulations in cooperation with national authorities.
Earlier this week, the European Union also joined forces with an agreement on data protection law. This law imposes stricter requirements on organizations that process data of European citizens.
