The Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Belgorod region approved the use of a special computer program that can automatically determine the degree of guilt of drivers in the event of an accident.

— The program performs various calculations. Some contain formulas related to kinematics and physics of motion. To make this program work, I wrote a code that turned out to be 340 lines long,” explains the author of the algorithm, a student of the Department of Automated Systems and Technologies of the Institute of Engineering and Digital Technologies of the Belgorod State National Research University, Daniil Bozhko.

The work was commissioned by the Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Belgorod region.

“We have ensured that the software saves significant time when calculating the speed of vehicles under different conditions, the technical capabilities of drivers to avoid accidents and the distances to the vehicle ahead, which are necessary to determine the degree of guilt of participants. to an accident,” said the center’s senior expert, Police Major Dmitry Lazarev.

The local police have already begun to use the student’s brainchild in their work. However, after consultation with the center’s employees, the maker decided to refine the program so that it could also use photos from the scene of an accident to analyze accidents, TASS reports.
