A few weeks ago, WhatsApp tried an option so we could send better quality photos and now it does the same with videos. The edit has already started to reach some beta users of WhatsApp for Android.

This new functionality comes personalized in a form. new HD button it will appear as an option before sending a video to a chat. When enabled, the video is sent at a higher resolution, making it even larger.

Sending videos in HD quality

it is an open secret Multimedia posts on WhatsApp leave much to be desireddespite increasing the app’s maximum document sending size up to 2GB. Photos and videos have other limits on their maximum size, especially when it comes to videos.

As a result, the videos that come to us via WhatsApp eventually become very pixelated being overcompressed. Soon we will be able to choose whether we want to keep it the same or enter the 21st century by sending high quality videos.

This innovation is basically the same one we met a few weeks ago for photos, but with videos. If we press the HD button, we have the option. choose between standard quality or HD quality when sending video

The resulting video is still compressed, but of higher quality. In the WaBetaInfo screenshot we can see the difference between the two options: a resolution of 416 x 880 pixels in standard quality or 608 x 1296 pixels in HD quality. in return, HD sending takes up twice as much space and therefore it will consume more data if we are not using Wi-Fi. Videos sent with this extra quality will appear in chat with an HD indicator.

According to WaBetaInfo, the quality setting only visible when posting videos of substantial size and the feature continues to be available to users, first in beta. I hope it becomes available to everyone in the coming weeks or months.
