A new Rapid Security Responses update for iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura had only just been released when Apple quickly backed down.

Due to a new bug in WebKit, Apple released a new Rapid Security Responses update for iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura this week. However, it turned out that this update affected the operation of several websites. Apple has since withdrawn this update.

gets on your nerves

It was an anonymous researcher who reported the bug in WebKit. The new issue has been cataloged as CVE-2023-37450 and affects code execution. Apple is aware that the flaw may have been actively exploited.

zero operation

However, it was found that the Rapid Security Responses update for iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura that Apple released in response triggered a bug in Safari that severely impacted access to a number of websites. According to MacRumors forums, these included Facebook, Instagram, Zoom and WhatsApp. The bug is clearly not a fan of meta.

updates to the update

Anyone who has already installed the update can easily undo it themselves. On the Rapid Security Responses update page, Apple explains how you can do this quickly. The company also confirms that Rapid Security Response for iOS 16.5.1 and iPadOS 16.5.1 will be available soon to fix the Safari error.

RRS is a feature that Apple only introduced in May of this year. A few weeks ago, the company also had to work to fix vulnerabilities (among other things) in the WebKit.
