He Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart jump to PC It’s another step in Sony’s plan to gradually bring some PlayStation exclusives to the PC world, which is quite a smart move as it allows them to expand the reach of their games, which translates into improved revenue, and also gives PC gamers more exposure to their ecosystem , which may translate into some of them being encouraged to switch to PlayStation.

Implementation of the plan, however it doesn’t turn out as well as one would like. On the one hand we found ports as insultingly bad as The Last of Us Part I and tech spec lists bloated than a soufflĂ©, designed this way to continue projecting the supposed technological superiority of consoles over PC. This has undoubtedly taken a toll on these releases, but they still continue to generate a lot of interest for logical reasons, starting with the fact that they are, in most cases, great games.

A little over a month ago, a new step in this regard was confirmed, with the arrival of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on PC on July 26th. Recall that it was one of the first exclusives for the PlayStation 5 and that since then it has received quite positive reviews from both the specialized press and players. So when we look at his Metacritic record, we see that his notes are 88 (out of 100) from professionals and 8.5 out of 10 considering player ratings.

Despite the fact that there are less than two weeks left until its arrival on the market and it is already available for pre-sale, it issurprisingly, its technical requirements have not yet been published. Personally, it’s hard for me to understand how a game will go on sale (even in pre-purchase mode) without reporting it, but hey, the video game industry is getting weirder and more incomprehensible by the day, so we can say that this fits into this new normal .

Be that as it may, an involuntary publication (which has since been removed) by Insomniac Games and Nixxes Software, reflected by Wccftech, has revealed the technical requirements for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apartand there are some very interesting points here, one of which is exactly in line with the bloated claims I mentioned earlier.

Anyone who has stayed somewhat in the know about Sony PlayStation 5 communications will surely have heard ad nauseam about the imperative role of high-performance SSDs, right? PWell, surprise, as you can see in the table of requirements, it turns out that SSD is recommended, but not necessary. And yes, it’s true that it’s in the lowest mode, but that’s because, according to Sony’s explanations at the time, certain technical conditions of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart made it impossible for it to work on the hard drive. . I’m wondering out loud if this interesting revelation has anything to do with the post being removed.

On the other hand, the good news for those who plan to play it and have a PC eligible to use this technology is that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be the first PC game compatible with DirectStorage 1.2a Microsoft technology that allows textures to be decompressed directly on the GPU without having to go through the CPU first, which often causes bottlenecks.
