What is the Panzerhaubitze 2000?

German self-propelled artillery (SAU) is designed to destroy:

• group and point targets, especially fortifications,
• firearms (including tanks and armored fighting vehicles),
• human power;
• It is a closed-type gun on a tracked chassis, built on the basis of components and units of the tank “Leopard-2”;
• It was adopted by the Bundeswehr in 1998.

What are the benefits:

• 155 mm artillery system with a barrel length of 52 caliber provides long range;
• fragments from shell ruptures destroy everything within a radius of 50 m;
• thanks to the fully automatic reloading system, the ACS is able to maintain a rate of fire of 10 rounds per minute, despite the fact that its ammunition is 60 rounds;
• equipped with a fire control computer with ballistic calculations and the possibility of connection to the headquarters artillery control system;
• It has an automatic fire detection and extinguishing system for the crew and engine compartments.

• weight with installed jet armor units – 57.66 tons;
• full length (gun front) – 11.67 m;

• maximum speed: on the highway – 67 km / h, off-road – 45 km / h;
• range on the highway – 420 km;
• capacity of fuel tanks – 1000 l;
• ammunition: up to 60 rounds;
• firing range: up to 47 km (projectile with enhanced ballistics), 67 km (active jet);
• ammunition caliber – 155 mm;
• barrel length – 52 caliber;
• rate of fire – 10-12 shots per minute.

Crew – 5 people (possible minimum – 2).

It was developed by the German concern Krauss-Maffei Wegmann.

12 howitzers:

• 7 – Germany,
• 5 – Netherlands.

Training of the Armed Forces in Germany

• more than 60 soldiers;
• It will take about 40 days in Idar-Oberstein;
