During its war with Iran, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) began using artificial intelligence to select targets for airstrikes.
As reported by Ukrinform, reported Bloomberg cites officials.
Specifically, according to the military, an artificial intelligence advisory system is now used that can process large amounts of data to select targets for airstrikes.
Airstrikes can also be organized with the help of another AI model called Fire Factory, which uses data on military-approved targets to calculate ammunition loads, set priorities, and plan air strikes.
An IDF official noted that although both AI systems are controlled by people who review and approve individual targets and airstrike plans, the technology is still not subject to any international or government regulation.
While advocates say advanced algorithms can exceed human capabilities and help the military minimize casualties, critics warn of the potentially deadly consequences of using increasingly autonomous systems, Bloomberg says.
As reported by Ukrinform, Japan’s Ministry of Education has issued its own rules or regulations from universities and technical colleges around the country. recommendations for productive AI use (AI).
