NVIDIA RTX Remix was one of the most important announcements of the green giant along with the introduction of GeForce RTX 40. This project was born with the aim open up a world of possibilities for modders, especially since it makes it much easier to introduce ray tracing and AI acceleration into classic games. The community has welcomed the platform with open arms, and Portal Prelude RTX is one of its latest creations.
Portal Prelude RTX is a remastering of the unofficial prequel to the famous Valve franchise, which works as a completely free mod and is clearly inspired by Portal RTX. As you might have imagined, it has undergone an important technical overhaul, as it not only has important graphical improvements, but also Compatible with DLSS 3which covers both Super Resolution technology and image generation and also supports NVIDIA Reflex, Ray Tracing and NVIDIA RTX IOwhich decompresses files and game assets on the GPU.
Portal Prelude RTX is based on the original Portal, but the graphical improvement that this title brings is huge because, as I told you before, it has a complete implementation of ray tracing. What does it mean? Well, it’s very simple, both direct and indirect lighting as well as shadows, ambient occlusions and reflections were generated using ray tracing, which gives it a highly realistic finish.
To avoid the impact that ray tracing has on the performance level, DLSS 3 has been implemented. According to NVIDIA, is able to multiply power by five when gaming in 4K at maximum quality and allows movement at speeds of more than 80 frames per second with GeForce RTX 4080. NVIDIA Reflex improves latency and increases response speed, and with NVIDIA RTX IO, textures are loaded five times faster and load times are reduced.
On the other hand, NVIDIA also took the opportunity to announce a New controller ready for game this will allow us to get the most out of Portal Prelude RTX and this includes other important news, among which we can highlight that it is optimized to work with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart as Remnant II. It also expands the number of G-Sync compatible monitors with the addition of the LG 27PG95R, Panasonic 48MZ1800 and Dell AW2724DM.
