US President Joe Biden said that a number of major technology companies, including Amazon, Google, Meta and Microsoft, have committed to taking security measures in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) developed with the mediation of the White House.
This was reported by Voice of America, according to Ukrinform.
According to Biden, these commitments are an important step towards managing the enormous opportunities and risks associated with new technology.
Voluntary commitments by seven American companies must ensure the safety of AI products even before they are released.
Some obligations include oversight of commercial AI systems, but do not specify who will oversee the technology.
“These commitments are a promising step, but we still have a lot of collaborative work ahead,” said the White House chief.
Many people are excited by generative artificial intelligence systems that can generate text, images, and other media data that are practically indistinguishable from those created by humans. But there were also concerns about their ability to mislead people and spread misinformation.
Four tech giants, OpenAI, the developer of the ChatGPT chatbot, and startups Anthropic and Inflection have committed to testing, including independent experts, to protect against major risks, including biological and cybersecurity.
As Ukrinform reports, researchers from the University of Ionia (Greece) have successfully created 10 cutting-edge biobanks based on artificial intelligence.
