OpenAI introduces the ability to save specific instructions for ChatGPT.

Selected users can now share information with ChatGPT, which the system can then store and save for future commands or conversations.

Practical

In a maximum of 1,500 characters, some users can now specify and save what ChatGPT should take into account in future interactions. For example, if you’re a student, you can ask to answer at a 10-year-old level, or you can go crazy and say you don’t like the letter “p”. ChatGPT will then base all its replies on this information in the future, you don’t have to keep mentioning it.

You can edit or delete parts of these settings at any time if your preferences change. This is useful, for example, if you have to give the chatbot several orders for the same project, but this information is then irrelevant.

who is watching

Just make sure what you share is visible to plugin developers. So don’t just share information and only use plug-ins that you trust.

The information you share for these preferences will also be used to further train ChatGPT. How the model reacts to your saved preferences is of course interesting for OpenAI in order to further develop the model.

Availability

Currently, the feature is only available in beta for ChatGPT Plus users. Additionally, it is not available in the EU or the UK. However, OpenAI states that it wants to be available to all users in the near future.

ChatGPT will also be available for Android later this month, but OpenAI has not yet announced this new feature for this operating system. A recent experiment found that employees using ChatGPT are more productive. Who knows, this feature could improve.
