The ability to have emails translated into a language of your choice has been available in the desktop version of Gmail for some time, but the mobile version required your best language skills or a translation app. Google is changing that with a workspace blog. The mobile app also has built-in Google Translate integration for translating emails.
The translation feature appears between the sender and the content of the email. You can change both the source language and the language of your choice. The drop-down menu is automatically displayed when you receive an email in a different language than what you have set as the default in the settings.
The translation feature in Gmail supports all languages that are also available in Translate. This is how you can convert emails from any language to Dutch. You can then reset the e-mail back to the original language at any time. So you no longer have to cut and paste the text into a translation app or pick up a paper dictionary if you still have it.
Google is gradually rolling out the feature to all mobile users. Android is the first to act, but iOS users usually don’t have to wait too long. The feature is available for both paying Google Workspace users and the free personal accounts.
