A 3-year-old boy died on the bus who was moving migrants from Texas to Chicagoconfirmed this Friday to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to local media.
A 3-year-old boy died on the bus who was moving migrants from Texas to Chicagoconfirmed this Friday to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to local media.
According to the newspaper, death occurred on Thursday in a truck that was not far from the destination. Chicago Tribune.
An IDPEH spokesperson confirmed to the publication that the child died as the bus entered the Chicago area.
“IDPH is working with local health authorities, state police, and federal authorities to the extent possible to get answers to this tragic situation,” an IDPH spokesperson said.
Chicago was one of the targets of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star, sending asylum seekers released on the southern frontier to Democratic-run cities that have been declared refuges for migrants.
Nearly 5,000 migrants have been sent from Texas to Chicago.
Texas has brought 4,600 migrants to Chicago since August 2022, according to data released by Abbott last week.
Last year, Florida’s governor, also a Republican, joined the Abbott measures. Ron DeSantiswho provided funds from his government to send the aircraft to migrants from Texas to states such as Massachusetts and California.
Mexico and the US will form a working group to remove wire buoys in Texas
Mexican Foreign Minister Alicia Barcena and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced on Aug. 10 that a task force had been set up to remove wire buoys the Texas government had installed to stop migrants in the Rio Bravo separating the two countries.
At a joint press conference following a meeting at the State Department in Washington, Barcena said the Mexican government was “very concerned” about the floating wall because “most of the buoys” are in Mexico.

Although the official confirmed that they are “grateful” to the administration of US President Joe Biden for filing a lawsuit against Republican Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott for the said buoys.
“I think we will find a solution. I am leaving with great hope that we will possibly form a working group,” Barcena said. (EFE)
