Gemini, Google’s ambitious AI project, is said to be so far along in development that it could launch later this year.
Since the rapid growth of ChatGPT, AI research at Google and its various teams has seen a significant boost. Chatbot Bard was launched by Google Brain and DeepMind, owned by Google for several years, even combines AI with robotics. According to Android Police, both teams have been merged for the joint project Gemini, which the world can get to know this year.
We reported on Gemini back in June when the project was still in full development. While the newly assembled AI family of Brain and DeepMind did not stand still at Google, Gemini was and is being extensively trained in many areas. Even co-founder Sergey Brin is actively involved in the project. So it’s Google, dude.
The aim is not simply to compete with OpenAI, but to become much better and to further exploit the possibilities of AI. In addition to being a large language model, Gemini must also generate contextual AI images.
That is not all. The model should also be able to read flowcharts and allow you to control software with your voice. With the immense video inventory that Google has on YouTube, Gemini would even have videos (transcripts) in the training material. All within a legal framework.
According to the (anonymous) source inside the project, Gemini will soon power products like Google Docs and developers will have to pay for access. After the application to various products, there will probably also be an app.
